About NFC

Nuclear Fuel Complex (NFC) was established in 1969 as a major industrial unit of India's Department of Atomic Energy, for the supply of nuclear fuel bundles and reactor core components to nuclear power sector. It is a unique facility where natural and enriched uranium fuel, zirconium alloy cladding and reactor core components are manufactured under one roof starting from the basic raw materials namely Magnesium-di-uranate and Zircon sand respectively (ore to core).

The complex also symbolizes the strong emphasis on self-reliance in the Indian Nuclear Power Programme. The advanced technologies for the production of nuclear grade uranium di-oxide fuel, zirconium metal and zirconium alloy tube components, the manufacture of fuel bundles and structural components conforming to reactor specifications were developed through systematic efforts for all the Nuclear Reactors in India. Emphasis is given for safety, quality and productivity. NFC employees worked without reportable accident during the year 2018, which is a first since its inception.
