Nuclear Fuel Complex is relentlessly fueling the nuclear power program of India. To meet the fuel requirement of the upcoming nuclear reactors NFC Hyderabad is setting up a new facility, NFC-Kota at Rawatbhata near Kota, Rajasthan. This facility is adjacent to the existing Heavy Water Plant-Kota. The project is spanned in approximate area of 190 ha with additional township area of 25 ha. The plant capacity is 500 TPY PHWR fuel fabrication and 65 TPY fuel cladding fabrication. The capacity of fuel cladding fabrication will be further augmented by 100 TPY.
Major Statutory / Regulatory clearances already obtained for the project are as follows:

- Siting consent & Consent to construction by Atomic Energy Regulatory Board
- Consent of State Pollution Control Board
- NOC from Wild Life authorities
- Approval from Central Electrical Authority
- Consent to construction by Atomic Energy Regulatory Board
Major facilities of the project include Melt shop; Forge & Extrusion shop; Pilgering shop; Tube finishing, cleaning and heat treatment facilities; Uranium powder, pelletising and assembly plants; tool room; maintenance workshop; etc. NFC Kota Project features state-of-art facilities, automation systems, automatic guided vehicles, automatic storage and retrieval system etc to give a vital boost to the Nuclear fuel manufacturing. NFC commitment towards environmental protection shines forth in all its endeavors. Right from construction stage to production stage, NFC leads the way as an eco-friendly organization. All systems are in place to ensure a healthy environment for employees and general public.
The project is in advance stage and many work orders and purchased orders are already placed and many are in pipe line. The project is progressing very fast. NFC Kota project has already achieved several milestones like site grading, basic infrastructural activities of roads, drains, compound wall, ware houses, project office, provision of construction power and provision of construction water, etc. Plant and Non plant building construction is in advance stages of completion.
Purchase Orders / procurement action for various equipments like Electrical Package, Hydraulic Presses, Electron Beam Welding units, Extrusion Press, Pilger Mills, Vacuum Annealing Furnaces, Ultrasonic tube testing machine, 5-Axis Die Grinding Machine, 4-Axis CNC Milling machine, Barrel Straightening Machine, CNC Centreless Grinding Machine, Powder Plant Package, Roll Press, High temperature Sintering Furnaces, Centreless Grinding Machines, Special Purpose Double Head Turning Machines, etc. are either completer or under process.
NFC accelerates the marking of Indian footprint in global arena of Nuclear fuel manufacturing with its determination to provide congenial environment for employees working at all levels. NFC-Kota project plans to establish schools and colleges for the benefit of the families of its employees. A township has been planned with amenities such as 24x7 security, dispensary, play ground, community hall, shopping complex, auditorium etc.
